Cucumber Clothing share their fashion travel maths!
Despite the best efforts of the ‘Beast from the East’, spring has finally sprung and we at Cucumber are feeling fairly delirious at the prospect.
With birds singing, a pale, warm sun emerging and spring blossom out all around, - Cucumber’s thoughts are fast turning to our travel plans. Maps are out, travel websites bookmarked, and pinterest boards with names like ‘farfaraway’ and ‘sandbetweenmytoes’ have been started.
The last thing on the list to strike panic into the heart: choosing the perfect travel wardrobe. Whether you are an, 'I’ll take my entire wardrobe just in case' sort of girl, or a 'cossie, shorts and sunhat in a carryall' type, we’ve found the single rule that makes packing simple: multi-tasking pieces.
Our every day life is a finely tuned balancing act, juggling work, family, social life, and a host of other commitments – we multi-task non-stop! Your travel wardrobe should follow your lead. Each piece should be able to double or triple up with different outfits. Not only that, you should be able to wear them 24/7 without having to worry about creasing, clamminess or special care.
How to do it? Having a few key pieces that work from morning through the night. All of which keep you stylish, cool, dry and comfortable. None of which need ironing/dry cleaning or more than a quick wash in the sink and an hour or two to hang dry.
Use our simple travel maths for a short break somewhere deliciously hot. All you’ll need are a few key multi-tasking pieces from Cucumber.
Then pop in a pair of sandals and wedges, a great wrap that can also work as a sarong and scarf, a belt, hat and some statement jewellery and sunglasses and you’re done!
Board that plane rocking the harem trousers, v neck t shirt and wrap tied around your neck as a scarf and some lovely gladiator sandals. Uncrushable, moisture wicking and super comfortable, you’ll be able to catch more than forty winks.
Once you’ve arrived, slip on your cossie, flats and ruffle top and shorts, and you’re ready for everything from breakfast on the terrace to a walk into town to see the market. Don’t forget the hat!
It’s evening and after a refreshing shower, throw on a bright contrasting bikini or bandeau top under your ruffle dress. Statement earrings, wedges and maybe a belt, and it’s off for supper under the stars. Maybe take that wrap if you think it will cool down. If you have that extra glass of bubbly, no worries, the ruffle dress is perfect to slip into bed for a cool night’s sleep as well.
Eureka – it’s the best kind of maths you can do.
Happy packing! Bon voyage!
