Tracy’s experience of changing sense of smell following surgical menopause

My surgical menopause and strange smells!

Tracy Kelebeck went into surgical menopause at aged 41, (only one ovary removed but the other one failed totally within about 7-9 months) 8 years ago following medically managed menopause, but the real thing has been a shocker and a real struggle! Anyway! My sense of smell has always been good but honestly, I’d say for around the last 3 ish years, since I have been on a better dose of HRT my sense of smell is off the charts! I can smell all manner of things from cigarette smoke to feet and generally anything that’s not pleasant, I have some kind of antenna! I think that it’s been more acute as I’ve got older, and it actually irritates me and my family definitely. I feel bad for them to be honest! My poor hubby walks in from work, I wrinkle up my nose and look at his feet and he now trots off or the bathroom for a wash, or my young almost teenage daughters get the third degree about their not-so-fresh armpits bless them … NOT! It’s made me paranoid though about my own body odours which have also changed, and I can smell it all the more.  Also, the more aware I am of it the more it annoys me!
